In today’s criminal defense environment, not engaging an expert in forensic science is a disservice to the people we serve. That is especially true with DNA evidence, where the science is complex and the stakes are high.

As a practicing criminal defense attorney, I am keenly aware of the financial limits many clients face and how those limits can affect a defense. Balancing the need for expert consultation, expert court appearances, and limited resources is an ongoing challenge — and it is one we built this practice to help solve.
At The Ambeau Law Firm, we are committed to helping the criminal defense community meet DNA and forensic science evidence effectively and efficiently.
The reality of DNA evidence
Judges and juries tend to treat DNA as absolute truth, often without any reasonable challenge. The other forensic sciences — fingerprints, firearm matching, toxicology, blood-spatter analysis, and the like — are given great weight when the State brings in an “expert,” and the evidentiary value of that testimony is frequently overstated and left unchallenged.
We level the playing field
The State has nearly endless resources to prosecute. The defense community deserves a reasonable, affordable response to this powerful evidence. That is who we serve. Our litigation-support services include:
- Initial review of the DNA and forensic science evidence in the case;
- Consultation on additional discovery requests;
- Report generation on the reasonable challenges to the individual analyst and to the science itself, including Daubert/Frye hearings and motions practice;
- Preparation of effective cross-examination of the prosecution’s expert;
- Trial attendance to assist with responsive cross-examination; and
- Cross-examination of the prosecution’s expert and direct examination of the defense expert.
